China Airlines Next Gen Travel: A Breakthrough in Aesthetics

Blending Eastern Beauty with Modern Technology

China Airlines' new cabin design strikes a delicate balance between classical eastern beauty and modern technology, creating a breakthrough in aesthetics. The new interiors convey the NexGen brand's core message of "Cultural Creativity", "Technology", "Environmental Protection", "Emotional Connection", and "Reliability", aiming to provide passengers with an unparalleled level of service.

The newest China Airlines 777-300ER fleet is a superior aesthetic blend of the Orient and the finest in modern engineering. The interiors reflect traditional design infused with modern Asian artistry, offering exceptional comfort and relaxation on a memorable journey. The cabin design draws inspiration from the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty, presenting pure lines and Ru Kiln celadon service ware for a unique perception of elegance.

The Premium Business Class cabin features 180-degree fully reclining seats, personal reading and convenience lighting, and an 18-inch Personal Entertainment panel. The personal spaces are finished with persimmon wood accents and relaxing cloud patterns in dark blue, creating a private study for the traveler. Premium Business Class passengers also have access to the Sky Lounge, an innovative club space offering a selection of reading material, refreshments, and a full bar emphasizing international wines, teas, and coffees of Taiwan.

Premium Economy Class provides a spacious 39-inch pitch, ensuring exceptional comfort and privacy. Specially selected amenity kits, enhanced meal service, and industry-leading 12.1-inch Personal Entertainment Touchscreens enhance the passenger experience. For travelers with younger children, the newly introduced Family Couch in Economy Class offers exclusive 3-seat blocks that convert into a comfortable bed, providing a relaxing space for children and their parents.

The China Airlines 777-300ER cabin is divided into three classes: Premium Business, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Premium Business Class offers 40 full-flat bed seats, while Premium Economy Class features 62 back-shell seats, ensuring personal space is not intruded upon. Economy Class provides 256 seats with a slim design, offering ample legroom for a comfortable journey.

The Next Gen cabin design project began in July 2012 at China Airlines' headquarters in Taipei, in collaboration with Boeing and the China Airlines Next Gen Team. The first Boeing 777-300ER with the NexGen Cabin is due to be delivered in early October 2014 at the Boeing delivery center.

The NexGen Travel Cabin design is based on China Airlines' corporate brand core messages, which consist of five key elements: Cultural Creativity, Technology, Environmental Protection, Emotional Connection, and Reliability. Extensive research, including one-on-one interviews with industry experts and focus groups with frequent flyers, was conducted to understand customers' needs and the true value of China Airlines.

The design process faced several challenges, including the tight schedule and budget control. Extensive discussions between the designers and manufacturers were required to develop plans that met certification requirements and overcame technological limitations.

The newest China Airlines' 777-300ER fleet cabin interior designs showcase Asian aesthetics cultivated from the Song Dynasty culture, harmoniously synchronized with modern engineering. The cabin's simplicity aesthetics perfectly complement China Airlines' well-known and widely applauded Elegant Service, providing passengers with a touch of Taiwan's essence.

This design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Hospitality, Recreation, Travel, and Tourism Design category in 2015. The award recognizes the design's outstanding expertise, innovation, technical characteristics, and artistic skill, evoking positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
